If you have opened TikTok or Instagram Reels lately, you have probably seen him: an elderly man with a white afro, round glasses, a red shirt and suspenders, out-dancing an entire crowd at a packed night party in Rio de Janeiro. The caption reads "Ninguém botou fé no vovô no baile charme", which means "nobody believed in grandpa at the baile charme."

That grandpa, known as Seu Zé, is not real. He was made by AI. But the clip started one of the most remade trends of the year: the baile charme AI trend, also called charme dance AI by English-speaking viewers. People have dropped superheroes, footballers, action stars and even the Mona Lisa into the same shot.
The best version, though, is the one where the dancer is you.
What is the baile charme AI trend? A baile charme is a real party in Rio where crowds dance "charme", a line-and-step style set to R&B and soul. The best known one happens under the Madureira viaduct. The AI trend borrows the look of that party: a shaky phone camera, floodlights behind a packed crowd, and one lead dancer doing the charme step in the middle of it all.
The step itself is simple to recognise:
the shoulders bounce on the beat, the forearms swing in front of the hips, the dancer leans forward and slides the hands past each other at waist height, and the clip ends with a small side step and a turn. Because the shot never changes, only the dancer, the format is perfect for remakes. Swap the face and you have a new video.
Why making your own version is harder than it looks If you have tried to make one with a general AI video tool, you probably hit at least one of these problems:
The prompt. The model does not know what "charme" is. You have to describe the scene, the camera, the crowd and every part of the step in detail. The face. Many tools drift away from your face halfway through, or blend you into the crowd. The look. Without the right reference, you get a smooth, cinematic camera that looks nothing like the original phone clip. The sound. The trend lives on its original audio. Matching it in an editor afterwards takes extra time. The captions. Reference clips often carry burned-in text, and models love to copy it. That is a lot of trial and error for a 12 second joke.
The shortcut: Charme Dance AI Charme Dance AI is a small web tool built for exactly this trend. The shot list, the reference footage, the music and the prompt are already built in, so the only thing you provide is a photo.
Here is how it works:
Upload one photo. A clear, front-facing picture where your face, hair and outfit are visible. Pick a template. There are six of them (more on those below). Generate. In about four to eight minutes you get a 12 second vertical MP4 of you dancing the charme step in the crowd, with the original sound and no watermark. You sign in with Google, and you can close the page while it works. The finished video waits in your account, ready to download and post to TikTok, Reels or Shorts as it is.
Six ways to join the trend Each baile charme AI template is a different take on the same night:
Viaduto Classic: you, in your own clothes, as the dancer everyone is watching. Closest to the original clip. With Your Friend: upload two photos and your friend steps out of the crowd to dance at your shoulder. Casal no Charme: you and your partner, face to face in the middle of the floor. Vovô no Baile: the one everyone shares. It shows you at 75, white hair and all, in Seu Zé's red shirt and suspenders, still the best dancer at the party. Preto e Branco: the same scene in grainy black-and-white film, like a lost recording from the 80s. 80s Action Look: faded denim, a white tank top and a wide belt, a nod to the action-star remakes, without using anyone else's face. Tips for the best result Light matters most. Daylight or a bright room beats a night selfie with flash. Face the camera. The video opens with a look back over the shoulder, so the model needs to see your eyes. Skip sunglasses and low caps. Show your outfit. Most templates keep the clothes from your photo, so wear what you want to be seen in. Two-person templates work best with two separate photos, one face each. If you are curious about what is happening under the hood, the team has published the full baile charme AI prompt and explained why each line is there. It is a useful read even if you prefer to build your own version in another tool.
What does it cost? There is no subscription. You buy credits once and they never expire, and 1 credit makes 1 video, whichever template you choose:
Single: $9.99 for one video Party Pack: $19.99 for three videos ($6.66 each) Ultra Pack: $59.90 for ten videos ($5.99 each) If a video fails to generate, the credit goes back to your balance automatically.
A note on safety and consent The tool only accepts photos of you or of adults who have agreed to be in the video, and it does not accept celebrities or public figures. Uploaded photos are used only for the safety check and the generation, then deleted. The videos are clearly AI-generated scenes, not real footage of the Madureira party, and the service is independent from the party's organisers, TikTok and CapCut.
Is there a filter or CapCut template for this? Not really. Many people search TikTok's effects library for a "baile charme AI filter", but a filter can only change footage you film yourself. The trend puts you somewhere you have never been, doing a dance you never performed, so it has to be generated. CapCut can add the sound and captions afterwards, but it cannot create the dancing clip.
Your turn on the dance floor The baile charme AI trend works because it is warm, a little absurd, and instantly recognisable. Grandpa proved everyone wrong. Now it is your turn.
